Briggs & Stratton 12kW Generator
A Briggs & Stratton 12kW Generator restores power to your home during utility outages. Fully automatic, it works in any weather including hurricanes, day or night. Whether you’re at home, away on vacation, or sleeping in your bed, the standby generator detects a power outage. Within seconds, the generator starts and signals the automatic transfer switch. The ATS switches from utility to generator power. An optional power management system ensures your home’s essential appliances and circuits have power when they need it.
Where temperatures fall below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, install a Briggs and Stratton Cold Weather Kit. A Cold Weather Kit allows easier starts in temperatures below freezing with a battery warmer and oil heater. In below freezing temperatures, the battery warmer provides more power for starting the generator. Warm oil lubricates better which prolongs engine life and makes it easier to start.
Power Management
The New Briggs and Stratton Generator and Automatic Transfer Switch systems include an Amplify 200-Amp Service Rated Transfer Switch and Amplify Gateway Module.
With Amplify power management, the homeowner can control up to 32 prioritized appliances via the Standby Generator Management App. The Amplify system requires the Gateway, Dual Low Voltage Modules, and High Voltage Modules. Low voltage modules manage appliances with controls like a thermostat—Air Conditioners, Furnaces, and Heat Pumps. High voltage appliances like electric ranges, water heaters, and electric dryers use the high voltage modules.
The Standby Generator Management App allows the homeowner to change system priorities as needed. For example, the electric range might receive a higher priority over the electric dryer while cooking dinner.
Installation requires the use of a Carbon Monoxide Detector inside the home to guard against CO Poisoning.
This Briggs & Stratton 12kW Standby Generator is NOT rated for Prime Power Applications.

new controller is not user friendly.
I have purchased several 8 kw and 10 kw and 12 kw Briggs and stratton standby generators. they were all great units. now for some reason they have changed the controller to a gc1031genset. this controller is definitely not user friendly. instructions are vague. spent a lot of time trying to set time. also the past units cam with good installation instructions. this unit's installation instructions were also vague. in my opinion this unit will not be what I recommend to my customers. most of the time simpler is better and more reliable. this is a standby generator the only thing it needs to do is to start and transfer power when the utility power fails.
